Are You Well?

At the recent marketing conference at Zulal Wellness Resort by Chiva-Som, I was reminded that wellness is more than just the absence of illness—it's a state of true well-being. Yet, how often do we equate "wellness" with just a visit to the spa? Even then, we only manage to go when we find the time or prioritize it amidst our hectic schedules. The importance of taking time for ourselves cannot be overstated, yet it often gets lost in the shuffle of our busy lives.

There's a significant gap between indulging in a spa treatment and achieving genuine wellness. This often becomes glaringly obvious when we lose our sense of balance—when unhealthy habits take root, self-care is neglected, or stress takes its toll. It is in these moments that we come to truly appreciate the value of wellness, recognizing that it's not just about pampering ourselves, but about nurturing our overall health and well-being.

Wellness in our daily lives can be composed of different components, often found in the small things that add up. Here are some simple yet impactful practices:

1. Morning Breathing: Take 5 minutes in the morning to breathe deeply and mindfully.

2. Nature Time: Spend time outside in nature, even if it's just a short walk.

3. Presence with Loved Ones: Be fully present when interacting with your loved ones.

4. Gratitude Practice: Make it a habit to practice gratitude daily.

5. Movement: Move your body regularly. If you don’t have time to go to the gym, make a conscious decision to take the stairs instead of the elevator.

6. Daily Steps: Get your steps in; if needed, park a bit further away from the entrance to the shopping centre.

7. Hydration: Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated.

8.  Self-Kindness:  Don’t wait until you finally have the time to go for that spa treatment; be kind to yourself daily.

9. Mindfulness: Be mindful, whether interacting with others or when talking to yourself. Be aware of your thoughts as they are the starting point of creating your reality.

10. Get rid of stagnant energy: Mentally and physically. Declutter is like a detox, which can be as easy and quick as decluttering your desk and get more clarity in your workplace.

Incorporating these small practices into your daily routine can significantly improve your overall wellness. Don't wait for a special occasion to take care of yourself. Cherish the moments of wellness in your everyday life. Keep well. Yours in Travel,

Melanie
